United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)
UNIDO is a specialized UN agency that assists countries in industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization and environmental sustainability.

As of April 2019, 170 states were members of UNIDO.
The mission of UNIDO is to promote and accelerate inclusive and sustainable industrial development (Lima Declaration, 2013).
The Medium-Term Programme Framework 2018–2021 establishes four strategic priorities for the organization:
- creating shared prosperity,
- advancing economic competitiveness,
- safeguarding the environment,
- strengthening knowledge and institutions.
Each of these priorities contains a number of individual comprehensive programmes aimed to achieve effective outcomes and impacts through UNIDO’s support which includes:
- technical cooperation,
- analytical and research functions and policy advisory services,
- normative functions and standards and quality-related activities,
- convening and partnerships for knowledge transfer, networking and industrial cooperation.
